As President of Protean Design Group, Kim Horlander offers clients more than 20 years of transportation engineering experience. While Ms. Horlander’s main expertise is in the structural design of highway bridges, retaining walls and miscellaneous structures, she is also experienced in the areas of traffic and stormwater engineering. Ms. Horlander’s structural experience includes design of various bridge types including curved, continuous steel girder, prestressed AASHTO beam, cast in place flat slabs and others.
In addition to her extensive technical background, Ms. Horlander has also been involved with numerous professional societies and committees during her career. As a member of both ASCE and FES Ms. Horlander has served in leadership roles on numerous committees during her career including Engineers Week (Chairman) and Engineering Management Forum (President). Ms. Horlander currently holds Professional Engineering Licenses in both Florida and South Carolina.
